This week, Tara over at Sticky Fingers has chosen Food as the theme for this week’s gallery.

I have so many photos of C eating as I just love watching her.  From her first attempts when she grabbed everything with her full fist, to perfecting her pincer grip, and now just starting to use a fork, I just love it.

Here’s just a few:

13 weeks to go September 25, 2010

Weeks remaining: 13

Gifts purchased this week: 1

I managed to buy something this week although only a £2 stocking filler for C.  Better than nothing I suppose!  I went in Boots yesterday and they have their 3 for 2 offer on again this year which is good.  If you’re stuck for gifts you can always find something in Boots.

My website recommendation this week is an eBay seller with a shop on there called Bear Cottage Crafts.  They sell some lovely little signs and there seems to be something for every occasion.

I also want to recommend Kidstart which is a great website where you can save money for your kids simply by registering and using their site as a starting point when you’re buying things online.  I have their site as one of my home page tabs so I don’t forget to use it.

How are you getting on with your shopping?

In general, life is good.  We’re all healthy, there’s food on the table and a roof over our heads.

Sure, money can be tight and  the house renovations are driving us both mad but I know that these things won’t be forever.  We’re having a combi boiler fitted next week to replace our old back boiler and once this is done we’ll be able to get a bit further with the decorating.

The upstairs is finished apart from laying the carpet on the landing and a few personal touches, the hall just needs the floor laying and the rest is mainly painting.

C is mostly fantastic.  Her walking is improving daily, she’s trying to say more words and understands far more than I thought possible at this age.  She truly amazes me on a daily basis.  She does, however, have a temper like her daddy; very short.  This can mean some rather loud, screamy tantrums when she doesn’t get her own way (and she’s only 15 months!)

Work is going ok for me.  Me doing 3 days seems to be working well for us and, although a pay rise would be welcomed, I’m not doing too bad.  I’m very lucky to have wonderful parents who look after C for us when I’m working which makes things a whole lot easier on us all.  M is enjoying his job and has recently had a pay increase so he’s happy.

I think there will always be things that people will want to change, want more of or want less of but we should all take a step back and be thankful for what we have every once in a while.

Because, yes, life is good.

What can you do for free? September 22, 2010

What can you do for fun that’s free?  Your initial response is probably ‘not a lot’, but when you think about the area around you, there’s probably a lot more than you think.

C has just started walking and this is definitely her favourite thing to be doing at the moment.  Luckily for us we live in the countryside so there are plenty of quiet lanes were we can take the dogs and let C have a toddle about without any worries of traffic speeding past.

Now that the summer is ending, there are even more fun walks to be had on our doorstep.  We’ve been blackberry picking, although C would just eat them all if she had the chance, and this weekend we’re planning to go chestnut hunting in our local woods.  Wellies and waterproofs at the ready!

Another of C’s favourite hobbies is eating, and something else she can do for free is take advantage of Pizza Hut’s Kids Eat Free offer, which has now been extended until 9th January 2011 after over 900,000 lucky kids have eaten free during the summer.

For every adult main course or adult lunchtime buffet purchased, an accompanying child can choose from either a FREE 2 course kids meal (includes a drink) or a FREE kids lunchtime buffet (includes pizza, pasta and salad).

Find more details about the offer at http://bit.ly/a1DhgJ

As if that’s not enough then on the bottom of any Pizza Hut Restaurant receipt you will find an offer code. Enter this code at http://www.pizzahut.co.uk/familyadventures to get great deals on a wide range of family activities and adventures including holidays, theme parks, zoos and more.

This week, Tara has been telling us all about the Mona Lisa Million project, set up by Dave Fowler to raise money for charity, and has decided that this weeks Gallery theme should be A Smile.

Obviously I’ve got to pick a photo (or 3) of C for this.  I know I’m biased but she has the best smile ever!

Firstly, the first smile I captured on camera

And this is what you get now
